Background, academic journey, and interests in public health.
My name is Constance Malacarne, and I am a senior at the University of Georgia studying Health Promotion. I am based in Athens, Georgia, and have maintained the Zell Miller Scholarship throughout my undergraduate career.
My initial interest in healthcare began with a focus on medicine, but over time, my perspective shifted toward public health. I became increasingly interested in understanding why healthcare is not always accessible or utilized when needed. This led me to explore broader systemic and structural factors that influence health outcomes.
I am particularly interested in examining disparities in healthcare access and outcomes. My academic experiences have allowed me to study the social and structural barriers that contribute to inequities in care.
I am currently applying to graduate programs to pursue a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management. My long-term goal is to contribute to policies that improve access to care and reduce health disparities.
